Ford Issues Fire Risk Recall

Ford Motor Co. is issuing a new recall for 100,000 U.S. vehicles over fire risk and expanding a previous recall after a series of reported fires. The new recall is for vehicles 2020 through 2022 model year for the Ford Escape, Maverick, and Lincoln Corsair vehicles with a 2.5 Liter Hybrid/Plug in engine. Nissan Frontier and Titan Recalled

Nissan has recalled 180,176 of its 2020 to 2022 Frontier and Titan pick-ups. The vehicles have the potential to roll away while in park. Nissan is blaming “dimensional variation during the manufacturing process” for causing the parking pawl to fail to engage as intended. This causes the vehicle to move although the shifter is in park.

Nissan estimates only .03% of vehicles recalled are expected to have the problem.

Ford Recalls 2.9M Vehicles Over Gear-Shifting

Ford will recall 2013 to 2019 Escapes, 2013 to 2018 C-Max, 2013 to 2016 Fusion, 2013 to 2021 Transit Connect and 2015 to 2018 Edge vehicles. The vehicles affected by the recall could have damaged or missing bushing that prevents them from shifting into the intended gear and might cause the vehicle to move in an unexpected direction.

These vehicles could also roll away even after the driver puts the vehicle in park. Additionally, if the vehicle is turned off in a gear other than the park position, the engine will not restart. To fix this issue, the dealers will replace the under-hood shift bushing and add a protective cap over the shift cable bushing.
