Effective immediately, Subaru is no longer accepting orders for the base Forester, specifically PFB 01 and PFB 02. For now, higher level trims are still available for order.
About 23,900 units were added to AutoForecast Solutions’ tally of the number of vehicles removed from automakers’ production plans because of the microchip shortage this year.
Roughly 33,900 were cut at North American plants, with another 5,200 being axed in South America. But the AFS estimate for the number of cuts at plants in Asia outside of China improved by about 15,200 units from the prior week’s estimate, offsetting some of the losses in the Americas.
Ford and Stellantis are among the automakers that continue to show “production hiccups” that are limiting the number of vehicles they produce, said Sam Fiorani, AFS vice president of global vehicle forecasting, in an email. Still, production in China has been stabilizing, helping to limit the number of global vehicle losses.

Due to a smart key supply issue, Toyota will temporarily limit one (1) smart key on select models produced in October and November. Please note that this will include RAV4, Camry, Sienna, Highlander, Tundra and Sequoia — including hybrids. Similar to the Tacoma key situation last year, Toyota will initiate a special service campaign at a later date to provide customers with a second key.
The 2023 Hyundai order banks are now open and Hyundai is accepting orders with limited allocation. This will be a first come first serve basis. Please note that deliveries will most likely be around the end of Q2 of 2023.
No Plug-Ins, Venues, or Santa Cruz vehicles will have allocation.
The Chevy Malibu, Equinox, and Terrain have an order cutoff date of December 2nd with the last day to load new FANs to the tracker on November 11th.
AutoForecast Solutions added more than 289,000 vehicles to its tally of the number of vehicles cut because of the microchip shortage in 2022, sending the year-to-date total up about 8% from just a week earlier. As the shortage nears its third year, it remains unclear when it will finally end. Hope that new microchip production capacity will outpace high demand across multiple sectors before the end of 2023 “is fading from reality,” said Sam Fiorani, AFS vice president of global vehicle forecasting.

Due to the continued impact of the industry-wide shortage, beginning with production on October 26, 2022, Wireless Phone Charging (K4C) which are integrated in a charging mat in the center console of the vehicle, may no longer be available on certain MY23 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 1500 trucks and Chevrolet Blazer, Traverse, Tahoe, Suburban, Buick Enclave, GMC Acadia, Yukon, Yukon XL and Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV vehicles until further notice.

The forecast for lost 2022 factory production resulting from microchip shortages has softened by a small amount, according to the latest estimate from AutoForecast Solutions. But AFS predicts the year will still end with factories worldwide having eliminated 4.26 million vehicles from their plans this year because of inadequate chip supplies. That is modestly lower than the 4.39 million year-end total AFS forecast one week ago.
